DWB Stuff and a TRUE HEROINE

Well me and the beautiful Lady Kaos have been (kinda) put in charge of celebrations for the 1000th DWB member.. kinda hard to believe that there are almost that many of us!!

We have bandied a few ideas around but we need YOUR help. If you have any suggestions please comment on either mine or Lady Kaos' Blog.

We were thinking a "1000 reasons to celebrate" theme. Here are a couple of thoughts we had..

Participating Pups make a post describing what DWB means to them - Entrys would then be voted on.
Participating Pups submit a photo of them with the theme "1000 reasons to celebrate" - Entrys would be voted on

These are just ideas for now, feel free to pour scorn on them, praise them or add ideas of your own. This is everypups community and everypups input is important.

Some of the more talented pups may like to make us a button to display on the blogs.. on the theme of "1000 reasons to celebrate"

So there we go, we want to know what you DWB'ers want.. I know I can convince Mum to rustle up a prize or three if we want competitions. Get your thinking caps on and let us know.

Also, Mr T-Bone Beasley and Humans are organising this years DWB Holiday Card Exchange so if you haven't already signed up you can read more about it at their blog or click the button below to get straight to business and sign up.

2008 DWB EXCHANGE

Public Service Announcement Over..

You may now resume your usual business!

Please all pop over to Amber's Place and read (and watch) about Chloe's Heroics, Mum wept bucketloads but it's truly heartwarming!!

Is there any way for folks to each donate $1 to a rescue or another worthy cause? DWB could make a big donation if it's all put together!

We have seen blood transfusions at the vet's before, and the donor dogs always appear to be very stoic. Nearly like they know what they are doing. I've gotten quite emotional over it. Well, sheesh, add that song to it and it's Kleenex time! Chloe did a great job.
We have to think about this 1000 thing for awhile.

I will think about the 1,000 thing but I'm not a dog - only an honorary husky.

Everybody told me on my blog that they knew we would come up with something fun! lol They sure trust us!! We'll do a good job! I still think Mom should do a week of 1000 posts! She still says no way though.

I think Opy & C$ should do 1000 posts in one day - after all they started all this! ;-)

I think Stan's is a great suggestion. If someone has a PayPal account - everyone could depost $1 into it and the money could be donated to a very worthy cause on behalf of all DWBers

Cheers

Hi Ben,
I like your ideas!! It would be nice to pick a week and have bloggers post why DWB is special to them. I like the donation idea too.

That Chloe was a very brave girl. She's an inspiration.

1000 DWB! WOW! ConCATulations!
We just want to thank you so much for your kind words. You made our eyes leaky, but in the best way. I wish you could have gotten to know Roscoe better, but at least we know each other now and can be friends.

Sening a big kitty kiss from Italy!

We kinda like the idea of donating a couple bucks. And don't forget we do have an organization to donate to- http://www.doggierescue.com/ Monika's Doggie Rescue. It is one of the main reasons that DWB was started in the first place. We also like T-man's idea of picking a certain time to post maybe a top ten list of why we like DWB or something like that.

Hmm... if it's true that a picture's worth a thousand words, that's a cool connection to the whole "1000" thing. A photo contest showing what you love about DWB could be fun!
Woo! (That's for your mom.)
Luv,
Dave
PS: When I was in the shelter, I made such horrid noises, they called me "Yodel". I made them for a month... and my time was up on the very day my mom came in. As soon as I saw her, I gave her one of my soft "woo"s. I'm pretty sure that's why I'm a Foster Failure. :)

Hey breed brother!
The donation idea is great, that's why the DWB forum started, so it would be good for some of us young pups to focus on that!
All of us donating to Charlie & Opy's chosen charity would help them achieve their mission and make Charlie, Opy, Gregg & Brooke real proud!!!!.
I'm up for anything...BarkOutLoud, I'll tear myself away from my social whirl.....
Love you buddy

Stan has a great idea.Donations to a shelter is so appropriate for members of Dogs with Blogs.

Also, maybe you can pick a "l,000 Reasons to Celebrate Week" when everyone posts about why they love being part of the DWB community. It might be a good idea to open a separate blog page for everyone to post their entry, like we did for the Goody Exchange. Then we can all read the posts in one place instead of going from blog to blog.

If you need graphics, contact my Mama at chef.boxer@yahoo.ca. She'd be glad to help out.

Ben,
How y'all doing? Thanks for the public service announcement. We signed up for the 2008 Card Exchange; we missed out last year cuz we weren't in DWB then.
We were really inspired by Amber Mae's posting about Chloe donating blood to Bosco. She was a brave trooper just like you. It is probably getting cool and damp over in your part of the world about now. It was 95 degrees (F) here on Monday and 70 dgrees on Tuesday; Geez already.

What a great way to celebrate! I can't believe it has reached 100 already. It's just amazing! Oh, I'm gonna have to put my thinking cap on to think of for this contest. I hope Mommy will have time to help me out too. She's been pretty busy lately, doing some recording in the studio for some music competition. Sigh...

Oooh, you're the 3rd doggy to link about Chloe's post. We are SO happy that her story & video have touched & inspired so many! Honestly, we didn't know it would but we're very happy it did. Thank you for posting it in your blog! Chloe appreciates it.

Hey we like the donate 1 dollar each to a charity..if it were the same charity that would be a lot of moola! We are behind in our reading and are catching up and we havent gotten to Amber's yet. PL2 says she doesn't know if she will be able to cry any more because she just read Gizmo's post...... In fact the keyboards is very very wet..Love A+A

Woah, 1000 members! That`s a lot! We like the idea of the donations, and also the idea of a page where everydoggy (and kitty and hamster) could go and write down their reasons why they love DWB. If we think of anything else, we`ll let you know, Ben!

We like the idea of posting about what DWB means to us.

And Ao4s idea of a contest too.

We agree with Fleas Gang that it should go to Monika's as that's why Greg and Brooke started DWB. A thousand bucks or equivalent more or less would be a reasonable donation. It would have far more impact than splitting it up all over the place.

A plea. Please can it also be something that pups without paypal can handle.

Pippa

PS I will ask misery to see if she can come up with ideas. Sometimes she does.
